Enjoy the day in Blackpool then a trip through the famous Blackpool Illuminations
The UKs favourite beach resort features world-class attractions from a theme park to an aquarium, stunning beaches to the Blackpool Illuminations, a waterpark to a zoo, wax figure celebrity look-a-likes and the unforgettable Blackpool Tower. These amazing experiences are underpinned by a year-round programme of events and fantastic shows. Everyone enjoys a stroll along the prom. Whether its to catch some rays or just enjoy a relaxing walk along Blackpools famous Golden Mile. There is so much to see and do that this six-mile walk really could fill a whole day for you.
The Blackpool Illuminations consist of almost every kind of light display you can imagine: lasers, neon, light bulbs, fibre optics, searchlights and floodlighting. In 2012 there were more than 500 scenic designs and features. There are set pieces made out of wood studded with light bulbs: the characters and objects portrayed seem to move by way of winking lights. Three-dimensional illuminated scenes are also popular. There are over 500 road features attached to lamp posts linked together with festoon lighting. Strings of lights along the structure of buildings pick out landmarks in luminous detail you can always make out the Tower and the Pleasure Beach rides in this way.
Have you seen them? The sort of spectacle that everyone should see at least once. For generations, children and adults alike have been entranced by the spellbinding seafront spectacle which bathes the promenade with more than a million magical bulbs in a shimmering sea of light. The greatest free light show on earth has been a major part of Blackpools attraction scene since 1879 when they were described as artificial sunshine.
It's a wonderful opportunity to experience miles of festoon, larger-than-life tableaux, instagrammable features, laser technology and stunning projection shows during the dark winter months.
